Consumer Information about Tooth Bleaching Systems
There are 3 bleaching systems that will get your teeth whiter, brighter and improve the appearance of your smile.
All use the same bleaching agent, but in very different concentrations.
All systems are safe and do not cause any damage to teeth.
All can cause some gum irritation during the bleaching process.
Results vary from patient to patient, with each system.

Over the counter systems...
So far, the only one we have found to work is Crest White Strips.
This system can work with teeth that do not need much lightening.
Even with this system, people should be over 16 years old before bleaching teeth.
The concentration of the bleaching ingredient is very low at 2-3%.
Effectiveness is somewhat limited.
Cost is about $45.00-$60.00
In Office, One-Hour bleaching Systems...
There are two systems of this type, those that use a "laser"
(it is not really a laser) and those that do not.
Research including 1000's of patients, shows that two weeks
after the treatment is completed, the results between the light
system and the no light system, are the same.
It turns out that the light is more "hype" that an aid to treatment.
One hour bleaching systems use a very high gel concentration... up to 36%.
Lips, gums and eyes need to be carefully protected.
The cost of this system is $500.00.
Professionally Prescribed Custom Tray Bleaching Systems...
The systems that we use are VERY EFFECTIVE.
We use custom fitted trays with bleaching gel concentration
between 10 and 16%.
The cost is relatively low.
The results are very good.
In our office, the fee for the complete system is $200.00.
This system is the best value.
